Science Fiction!
I have always been a geek, and around 2014, thanks to Con or Bust, I began attending conventions that catered for wider interests than anime. This led to some new beginnings. One of these was collaboration with home convention Nineworlds on their film, literature and culture programmes.
At Worldcon I met authors and science fiction platforms from China, and began reading more Chinese sci-fi. I am very grateful to Ken Liu for making a lot of materials available in the West.
I became aware that few people in the West knew of the existence of Kehuan, a tradition that began over a century ago and has a ever-increasing following in China. So I wrote an hour-long talk on the history of Chinese science fiction and a closer look at a selection of contemporary works. This premiered at Nineworlds in 2016.
